Anti-Fraud & Scam Toolkit / dos and donts
Do’s & Don’ts
What to do before paying, after a suspicious approach, after a loss and when recovery is promised.
Choose where you are in the process.
The priorities change once money, account access or personal data have already been shared. This guide helps you decide on the next safe step.
Before you pay
Do
- Match the provider, legal entity and activity in I‑SCAN and the original register.
- Check domain, legal notice and payment destination independently.
- Question endorsements, commissions and claimed track records.
Avoid
- Yield to deadlines or guaranteed returns.
- Treat a link supplied by the seller as sole evidence.
- Share remote access or one-time codes.
After suspicious contact
Do
- Pause contact and find the official number yourself.
- Record links, senders and claims separately.
- If credentials were shared, secure access and change passwords.
Avoid
- Continue under pressure or make a test payment.
- Treat caller ID or a text message as identity proof.
After payment or loss
Do
- Contact the bank or payment provider promptly to ask about available protective steps.
- Preserve the timeline, transactions and original communications.
- Identify appropriate reporting routes and consider applicable legal deadlines.
Avoid
- Pay further release or withdrawal fees.
- Alter evidence or delete originals.
- Wait for a regulator while your own deadlines may continue.
When recovery is promised
Do
- Verify identity, remit, fees and claimed prospects independently.
- Compare qualified specialists and a clearly defined remit before engagement.
Avoid
- Pay advance fees in crypto or to unknown parties.
- Provide a seed phrase, one-time code or remote access for supposed recovery.
